The Carony is a system that transforms the car seat into a wheelchair and allows for a vehicle transfer that eliminates any manual handling of the occupant. The Carony base docks into the swivel seat in the vehicle, either of the Turny variants, and the entire seat easily slides from the car onto the wheelchair base.
The new Carony 16” comes with many improvements to help in compatibility with the wider wheelchair market. The occupant experience has vastly changed to help improve comfort and ergonomics as well as additional carer functions such as swing-out handles with brakes.
The seat itself is highly adaptable with individually adjustable armrests, torso support and thigh support. A built in pneumatic bladder allows the front of the cushion to be raised to further improve seating comfort. This system is the alternative to modifying the vehicle for wheelchair access where the wheelchair occupant does not need a specialised wheelchair.
The Carony is about being able to go places, to do things and to be spontaneous. It will give any user and their carer more independence. It’s the freedom to go wherever you wish and to be more active. Everyday things, like shopping or spur of the moment things, like having a picnic by the sea.
What does the Carony do?
Transferring without lifting.
The Carony is a system that lets you transfer from wheelchair to car seat without lifting. It takes away all the difficult, heavy and dangerous parts of the transfer. It’s as safe and comfortable as a standard car seat and it’s as versatile and easy to use as a transport wheelchair.
